Stephenson's Diamond Age coming to TV

Neal Stephenson's novel The Diamond Age or A Young Lady's Illustrated Primer is coming to the small screen in the form of a six hour miniseries.  It's going to be produced by George Clooney and Grant Heslov.  Apparently Stephenson will be adapting the novel himself, which is encouraging.  Diamond Age is my favorite Stephenson novel, so I really hope they do a great job.  I might have to get cable.

A Handbook of Grammar for the Innocent, the Eager and the Doomed

My dear friend Brian just gave me The Deluxe Transitive Vampire: A Handbook of Grammar for the Innocent, the Eager and the Doomed by Karen Elizabeth Gordon.

This is the best grammar reference EVER.  Grok these example sentences:

She wriggled in acknowledgment or writhed in uncalled-for shame.

His huge, calm, intelligent hands wrestled with her confusion of lace.

Into the circle of blind conformists leaps a dissident shining with woe.

He, she, and it surrendered the samovar, lost their patience, and tried to find their shoes.

I never would have imagined that I'd be so jammed about a grammar book.

The Five Fists of Science

From BoingBoing:

Matt Fraction shares a sneak-preview of his forthcoming graphic novel, The Five Fists of Science, starring Mark Twain and Nikola Tesla in a race to save the world from Thomas Edison and J.P Morgan.

This is one of the more compelling synopses I've read in a while.  I'm going to have to check this one out.
